Terms of Use
These are the rules of a house where nothing is at stake. They are duller than the rooms and rather more repetitive, largely because the same sentence has to be said in several places: nothing on playmischief.com is played for money, and nothing here can be turned into any.

The gist, before the numbering starts.
PlayMischief is a free social casino for adults. Play costs nothing. Glints are counters with no monetary value: they are never cashed out, never redeemed for goods or prizes, and never moved between players. Buying more of them is optional and buys nothing but a larger number. If any of that is not what you came for, this is a good moment to leave.
1. The house and the company behind it
These Terms of Use (the Terms) govern your use of playmischief.com and everything published on it: the six rooms, the Glint Room, the written pages, the contact form and anything we add later. All of it together is called the Site.
The Site is published and operated by Nightjar Play Ltd. (we, us, the house), a company registered under number 692418 (Republic of Ireland) and keeping its office at 25 Herbert Place, Dublin 2, D02 A098, Ireland. General correspondence goes to [email protected]; anything of a legal character, including notices under these Terms, goes to [email protected].
We hold no gambling licence, we have applied for none, and we operate the Site on our own account. It is not run for, with, or on behalf of any betting or gambling business.
2. Agreeing to these Terms
Opening a room, pressing a button in one, or sending us a message through the contact form means you have read these Terms and agreed to them. There is no account to create and no box to tick beyond the age question at the door; use is the acceptance.
If any part of them does not suit you, the remedy is simple and immediate: close the tab. Nothing is subscribed, nothing recurs, nothing has to be cancelled and no one has to be emailed.
Some pages carry their own short notices — the paytable of a room, the wording at the checkout, the Responsible Social Gaming Policy. Those sit alongside these Terms. Where a room’s own rules say something more specific about that room, the specific wording governs that room, and these Terms govern everything else.
3. Eighteen and over
The Site is for adults. Entry is permitted only to people of eighteen years of age or older, which is what you confirm when the door asks. There is no version of this Site for anybody younger, supervised or otherwise, and there is no arrangement under which a parent may hand the rooms to a child.
- Nobody under eighteen may use the Site, with or without an adult in the room
- Answering the age question untruthfully is a breach of these Terms in itself
- Where a device is shared, keeping it out of younger hands is the adult’s job
If we have reason to believe the Site is being used by someone under eighteen, we will block that use. If you think a minor has been using this Site on your device, write to [email protected] and we will help you clear the balance and shut the door on that browser.
Free social gaming is lawful in most places and not in all of them. Whether it is lawful where you happen to be sitting is your affair, not ours; if it is not, please do not sit down.
4. What the house is, and what it declines to be
The trade we are in is called social gaming, and this house is a social casino within it. The rooms borrow the shapes of casino games — drums, a wheel, cards, dice — and none of the stakes. They are played with Glints, a virtual balance issued by the house, held in your browser and worth nothing outside these six rooms.
What we do
- Free entertainment for adults, in a browser, for as long as you care to sit
- Counters given out at no charge and replaced at no charge
- Rooms of our own invention, under names and marks that are ours
What we do not do
- Real-money gambling, wagering, betting or staking of any description
- Cash-outs, withdrawals, redemptions or exchanges of Glints
- Prizes, gifts, vouchers, tokens or anything else of real-world value
- Sweepstakes, raffles, prize draws, tournaments with prizes or contests
- Transfers, gifts or trades of Glints between players
- Links, referrals or sign-ups to real-money gambling services
Because there is no stake, there is no return. A large balance is a large number and a small one is a small number, and neither is an asset, a debt, a credit or a claim against us. Success in social casino games does not imply future success in real-money gambling. The rooms are tuned for pacing and mood, not to imitate any commercial product; real gambling carries real financial risk and behaves differently in every respect that matters.
5. Your permission to use the site
What you have is permission: personal to you, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, and good for using the Site as it was meant to be used — for your own entertainment, in an ordinary browser. That is the whole of the licence, and it lasts precisely as long as you keep to these Terms.
It is not a commercial licence. You may not resell access, run the Site as part of a service of your own, put it behind a paywall, embed it in another product, or use any part of it to promote gambling, betting or any regulated financial activity.
6. Glints and your balance
Glints are virtual counters issued by the house for use inside the Site. What you hold is a limited licence to use them here, and nothing more. They are not money, not e-money, not a payment instrument, not a security, not a crypto-asset, not property, and not a credit balance held on your behalf.
- They have no monetary value and no exchange rate, inside or out
- They cannot be withdrawn, cashed out, sold, or converted into money
- They cannot be redeemed for goods, vouchers, chips, tokens or prizes
- They cannot be given, traded or transferred to another player — there is no mechanism for it, and we do not intend to build one
- They cannot be entered into any draw, because the house holds none
Your balance lives in the storage of the browser you play in. We do not keep a copy, and we have no way to look yours up. Clearing your browser data, playing on another device, or using a private window will present you with a fresh table and the standard opening balance; that is how the thing is built, and it is not a fault. We do not restore lost balances, because there is nothing lost to restore.
We may adjust, reset or withdraw Glints where a balance has arisen from a defect, an error in a room, or deliberate tampering with the storage the wallet lives in. Nothing is owed to anyone in that event, for the reason given at some length above.
7. Optional purchases, payments and refunds
In-game purchases are available. They are entirely optional: every room is playable indefinitely on free Glints, an allowance arrives on its own, and an empty table is refilled at no charge. Nothing behind a price is closed to somebody who never pays.
What a purchase actually is
A purchase in the Glint Room is the supply of digital content: a larger number of counters, delivered to your browser as soon as payment clears. It is not a wager and creates no prospect of receiving money or anything else of real value. It buys no advantage — no kinder odds, no extra room, no membership tier and no standing of any kind. Prices are shown at the checkout, in the currency stated there, inclusive of any tax we are required to charge.
Only adults of eighteen and over may buy, using a payment method they are entitled to use. Where a device or a card is shared within a household, keeping the shop shut is the cardholder’s responsibility; the Responsible Social Gaming Policy explains how to silence purchase prompts altogether.
The checkout is not connected yet.
At the date at the top of this page no payment can be taken on playmischief.com: no card details are requested, no order is placed and no charge can reach you. This section sets out the terms that will apply when the shop opens. Until it does, the rooms run on free Glints, which is what they do afterwards as well.
Cancellation and refunds
Digital content is delivered the moment it is paid for. Where consumer law gives you a right to withdraw from a distance purchase within fourteen days, that right falls away once delivery has begun with your express agreement — the checkout will ask for that agreement in plain words before it takes anything, and if you would rather keep the fourteen days, do not give it.
Beyond that, we would rather be reasonable than right. Write to [email protected] within fourteen days, quoting the receipt, and we will look properly at:
- a payment taken twice, or taken for a pack you did not choose
- counters that were paid for and never appeared in the browser
- a purchase made on your card by somebody in your household who ought not to have
- a technical failure on our side that spoiled what you bought
Refunds are returned to the original payment method, and the counters they paid for are removed from the balance. We do not refund counters that have simply been spent in a room, for the same reason we do not pay them out: they were never worth anything to begin with.
If you believe a charge is wrong, please write to us before asking your bank to reverse it. A chargeback raised without a word to us may cost you access to the Site, which is the only sanction we have and not much of one.
8. House rules
Very little is forbidden here, because very little is possible. What follows is the short list, and it is not negotiable.
- No bots, scripts, macros, scrapers or automated play of any kind
- No editing the stored balance, intercepting the wallet, or otherwise inventing Glints. It fools nobody but you, and it is still a breach
- No reverse engineering, decompiling or copying the code, except to the narrow extent the law says you may
- No probing, scanning, overloading or otherwise testing the security of the Site or the servers it runs on
- No attempt to reach data belonging to anybody else
- No selling, advertising or brokering Glints anywhere, at any price
- No presenting the Site as gambling, as a route to gambling, or as an endorsement of it
- No unlawful, abusive, deceptive or defamatory material through the contact form
- No copying our text, photographs, marks or design for use elsewhere
Breaking any of these lets us withdraw your access without notice. Given that nothing is held here and nothing is owed, the loss is small, but it is the whole of the enforcement and we will use it.
9. Outcomes, rules and availability
Every result in every room is produced by a pseudo-random generator running in your own browser. Nothing is decided by us in the moment, nothing responds to how much you have spent, and no room is told whether the counters on the table were bought or given. Results are final as they land, including the ones you dislike.
Payout rates, symbols, sector counts and every other rule of a room are a question of rhythm rather than margin, and we may change them whenever the rhythm is wrong. We may add rooms, retire them, rename them, close them for maintenance, or take the whole house down for good. None of that gives rise to a claim, because none of it takes anything from you that had value in the first place.
We do not promise that the Site will always be available, always be correct, or work on every browser ever written. Where an evident defect produces an absurd result, we may correct it and the corrected result stands.
10. What belongs to whom
The name PlayMischief, the monogram, the room names, the engraved marks, the photographs, the text on every page, the layout and the code are owned by Nightjar Play Ltd. or used by us under licence. They are protected by copyright, trade mark and design law, and none of it passes to you when you play.
You may read the Site, print a page for your own reference, and link to it honestly. Anything further — copying, adapting, republishing, scraping, feeding it to a machine to produce a competing product — needs our written permission, which is available by asking at [email protected] and free to be refused.
No real casino’s name, logo, game or trade dress appears anywhere on this Site, and none is going to. If you believe something here infringes a right of yours, write to [email protected] with the detail and we will deal with it promptly.
If you send us a suggestion — a room you would like, a rule you would change — we may use it without owing you anything for it. We mention this only so that nobody is surprised later; please do not send us anything you are not content to give away.
11. Other people’s services and links
The Site is deliberately self-contained: the fonts, images, scripts and styles are served from our own domain, and no third-party widget, tracker or social button is embedded in these pages. A handful of outbound links exist all the same — support organisations named in the Responsible Social Gaming Policy, for instance — and when the shop opens, a payment provider will handle payments under its own terms.
What happens on somebody else’s site is governed by somebody else’s terms and privacy policy, and is outside our control. We link to no real-money gambling operator, hold no affiliate arrangement with one, and receive nothing for sending anybody anywhere. If you find a link here that suggests otherwise, it is not ours, and we would like to hear about it at [email protected].
12. No warranties
The Site is provided as it is and as it happens to be available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude every implied warranty, condition and term — merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation among them.
Nothing on the Site is advice: not financial, not legal, not medical, and certainly not advice about gambling. The rooms are a diversion and are described as one throughout.
If you are a consumer, this section does not touch the rights the law of your country gives you and does not allow us to take away.
13. Limits on our liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Everything below is subject to that.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- lost, reset or unrecoverable Glints, balances, streaks or statistics
- time spent in the rooms, or anything you did not do while you were in them
- indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss of any kind
- loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, data or opportunity
- any decision you take elsewhere — in a real casino or anywhere else — because of something that happened here
- interruptions, defects or losses caused by your device, your browser, your connection or matters outside our reasonable control
Where liability cannot be excluded, everything we could owe you for every claim touching the Site, taken together, stops at whichever is the larger of these two figures: what you actually paid us for in-game purchases during the twelve months before the claim arose, or fifty euro. Since the usual figure is zero, the second limb of that sentence is the one that will normally apply.
14. Ending access
You end it by closing the tab. To leave nothing behind, clear the site data in your browser: the balance, the age confirmation and the cookie choice all live there and go with it.
We may suspend or withdraw your access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice, in particular where we believe you are under eighteen, where you have broken the house rules in section 8, or where we are required to by law. We may also stop publishing the Site altogether.
When access ends, your permission to use Glints ends with it, and no compensation of any kind is due for a balance that never had a value. Sections that by their nature ought to survive — ownership, disclaimers, liability, governing law — survive.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms as the Site changes or the law does. The current version always carries the date at the top of this page, and where a change materially affects you we will say so plainly on the Site for a reasonable period rather than hoping you re-read this page unprompted.
Staying in the rooms after a revision is how acceptance is given. If the new wording does not suit you, leave; that is the entire consequence. Changes never apply retrospectively to a purchase already made, which stays governed by the version in force when you made it.
16. Governing law, disputes and loose ends
These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of the Site, are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the courts of Ireland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the European Economic Area or in the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country, and you may bring proceedings there.
Before anybody involves a court, please write to [email protected]. Most complaints about a house that takes no money turn out to be soluble by email within a couple of days. If a complaint cannot be settled that way, a consumer may also refer it to the competent consumer protection or alternative dispute resolution body in their own country.
Loose ends
- Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, that part is trimmed and the rest continues to apply
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given up the right to enforce it later
- Whole agreement. These Terms, with the policies they link to, are the whole of the arrangement between us about the Site
- Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours to a successor of the business, on the same terms
- Third parties. Nobody other than you and us acquires rights under these Terms
- Language. These Terms are written and interpreted in English
